Currently behind the project Mercylane, based in Arizona. Drummer of influential 90s group The God Machine. After a tragic turn and a session with The Cure, Austin stopped playing music ‘for good’. Well that’s what he thought. Fast forward to 2016, he rescued a dog and moved to the mountains alone. He had never written a song on his own. He started up a new project, Mercylane. Shannon Arizona accompanies on vocals and maracas in their studio space in Prescott AZ. He spent his adolescence absorbed in cinema and film – however he chose to pursue his love of music and was signed by Fiction/Polydor Records at the age of twenty-two and toured throughout Europe and North America. By his mid twenties, Austin was an accomplished musician, sitting in on recordings for artists including The Cure. Under his new moniker Austin Lynn Austin, he went on to spend a decade living in Europe, which is when he began exploring the realm of music videos and experimental film. Soon he was freelancing for some of London’s top production houses as a DP, editor and director. He went on to team up with artist Marilyn Minter in New York to create her first experimental video ‘Green Pink Caviar’. The film was broadcast on MTV’s massive HD screen in Times Square and went on to be selected by Madonna to appear as the visual backdrop for the opening of her Sticky and Sweet European Tour. The film also went on to exhibit at MOMA in NYC as well as internationally. Austin has shot for clients including La Mer, Calvin Klein, BMW, Aveda and extensively for MAC makeup.
