British singer, known as Diane (1919-2001). She was born in Sculcoates in the East Riding of Yorkshire on 1 July 1919, and named Dorothy Wick. At the age of 20, she was living in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, and had already become a dance band vocalist. As 'Diane', she frequently sang with the Oscar Rabin Band in the 1940s, making her first recording with the band in London on February 20, 1940, on Bluebirds in the Moonlight, aged 21. She married Oscar's son, Bernard, in October 1941 in Hammersmith, and sang with the band on the Rex and Decca labels until 1942, when they stopped recording regularly. Oscar Rabin's band resumed regular recordings in 1947, and were again joined by Diane until 1949, this time on Parlophone. Mother of Michael Rabin (2). Diane Rabin died on 11 July 2001 in Worthing, West Sussex, aged 82.
