Born in Wels (Upper Austria) on February 14th, 1964. Moved to Vienna at the age of 18 where he started studying classic oboe under Prof. Alfred Hertel at the "music conservatory of the city of Vienna". He switched over to saxophone three years later and started to study at the Jazz department of the "Franz Schubert conservatory" 1986.
