Oakland, California Adam is a composer, saxophonist, and recording engineer based in Oakland, CA. "I was born in Los Angeles in 1992, and lived there until going to school at Oberlin College in Ohio in 2010. I moved to Oakland, CA in 2014 for an MFA in Electronic Music and Recording Media at Mills College, where I studied with Zeena Parkins, Fred Frith, and Maggi Payne. In 2016 I began work as a recording engineer at Tiny Telephone Recording in San Francisco and Oakland, and later at a collective warehouse studio in Oakland called The Creek. In 2021 I moved back to Los Angeles to begin a PhD in Musicology at UCLA. I write songs solo as Abe Hollow and with Marissa Deitz in Tuckamore. I play saxophone, mostly as an improviser. I also compose electroacoustic works that involve strings, synthesizers, and field recordings. My work often deals with memory, resonance, feedback systems, acoustic ecology, Jewish diasporic mythology, self-delusion, and climate grief. I release some of my own music and work by my collaborators on my tiny label called Ephemeral Stream Recordings. I organize a concert series called Lucky Cloud, which usually foregrounds music at the edges of experimentalism and song. It began at the Mills College Chapel, and has since moved to various ad-hoc locations in California."
