Across the span of her 7-year career as a recording artist, singer-songwriter, and former Miss West Indies Misty Jean has established herself as one of the pre-eminent female singer from Haiti. She has treaded where many have not stepped, and she has achieved what many thought was impossible: carving a niche for herself as the undisputed princess of Haitian Konpa Pop music with hit album after hit album: "Plus Pres De Toi", "Konpa A Gogo", "Li Pa Two Ta", "Live Vol. 1 & 2" and the soon to be released "Just Like That", which, if preview reactions are any indication, is going to be her biggest album to date. With her honey-dipped soprano, chiseled face, and feminest and sexual liberation anthems, Misty has captured the heart of music lovers from the USA to Haiti to Guadeloupe to Martinique, to France to Canada to Cape Verde. She has been heralded by many as this generation's Emeline Michel --- the sultry singer that took the music world by storm in the late 1980s. Misty has been the recipient of many awards including Miss West Indies (2001), Miss De La Francophonie (2002), the coveted and prestigious Female Singer of The Year Ticket D'Or (2004, 2006), and won honors as Best Female Artist from The Opamizik Award (2008) and Female Artist Of The Year from Compas On Broadway (2011). She is leveraging her stardom in other arenas, namely in cinema, starring in the movie The Price To Pay. She has performed with Lil Kim, Kaysha, Tanya St Val, Shino, Lea Galva, Orlane, Thierry Cham, Leila Chicot, Jim Rama & Patrick Andrey as well as the legendary Robert Martino, among other well known Caribbean artists. Misty has been on the cover of, or has been featured in Boyo Magazine, The Haitian Times, Ticket Magazine, Le Floridien, Ozone Magazine, Fanm Magazine, Boca Mag, Mainstream, and has been written about in countless publications and media outlets around the world including Afro Montreal, The Sun Post, The Observer and was recently selected to represent Haiti on Guadeloupe Premiere, French Television for a musical tribute to haitian Music legend Robert Martino. Misty's philantropy and activism in the community has garnered the attention of the South Florida organization Fanm Ayisien Nan Miami. In early March 2011, North Miami mayor Andre Pierre personally handed Misty a Certificate Of Recognition for her dedication and commitment in showcasing Haiti's art, music and culture throughout the world, and especially in her community.
