The Statycs are a band from Athens, formed in 2004 by a group of friends, covering songs that range from the rock’n’roll and surf genres to garage and punk (Question Mark and The Mysterians, The Straycats, The Sonics, The Stooges, The Stems, Them, The Ventures, and others). They have performed in various clubs and venues in Athens, such as The Rodeo Club, The Soul, After Dark, Lazy Club, etc. Their distinct trait is their original garage sound, which is due to the different musical backgrounds of the band members. Since its conception, the band has undergone several changes in its composition and has moved on to a less rock’n’roll and more garage punk style. The Statycs in their current lineup embarked on a more personal trip, exploring their own ideas and compositions, with echoes from the 60s and touching on 80s garage and punk. The result was their first album ‘Brainthrough’, produced at Feedback Sound studios.
