Marvin Holtzman

American producer, musician, educator and songwriter. Born c.1920 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Died October 22, 1982 in New York (60 years old). He got into the music business in 1936. He was A&R head for Okeh, Epic, and Decca in the 1950s, Capitol Records in the 1960s, and RCA in the 1970s. He produced jazz artists such as Stan Freeman, Betty Carter, Ray Bryant, Clifford Brown, Al Martino and many others. He was instrumental in getting his friend Ray Ellis into music arranging.
