[Probably, comparing signatures from various drawings at weblink below:] Daniel E. Snyder. Born May 12, 1926 in Boston - died March 30, 2004 in Davis. He graduated from Milton High School, served two years in the U.S. Navy, and attended Yale Art School after which he was awarded two consecutive Fulbright Scholarships to France. He was a professor emeritus of dramatic art at UC Davis where he taught and mentored students for more than 25 years. He had taught previously at Columbia and Carnegie-Mellon universities. He contributed set designs for a number of UC Davis productions and mounted a popular series of "Out Our Way" events with painter and cohort William T. Wiley. Outside of academia, his set designs included a number of major productions in the United States and Europe, including sets for the renowned Berliner Ensemble, the London Festival Ballet, and the Marquis de Cuevas Ballet, where he met his wife Jean, a dancer in the company. Before moving to Davis in 1966, he was a senior staff designer for Granada Television in England, a relationship that led to the "Granada Artists in Residence" program which he initiated and promoted within the University of California. Dan was also an accomplished painter with a number of one-man and group exhibitions, shown both locally and internationally.
