American songwriter, composer, and librettist. Born 1876 in New York City, New York, USA. Died May 22, 1932 (age of 55) in Boston, USA.. He was active from the late 1890s until his death. His best known songs were comedic, including "Nothing Like That in Our Family" (1906) and "No Wedding Bells For Me" (1907). He wrote popular songs for Broadway musicals, vaudeville, tin pan alley, and minstrel shows; notably creating the opening musical number for the first Ziegfeld Follies in 1907. He frequently collaborated with songwriters William A. Heelan and Edward P. Moran. He charted six times between 1906 and 1908 on the U.S. charts as a songwriter: "Nothing Like That in Our Family" by Will Denny (#7, 1906, co-written by Heelan & Moran), "No Wedding Bells for Me" by Billy Murray (#2, 1907, co-written by Heelan & Moran), "No Wedding Bells for Me" by Bob Roberts (#6, 1907), "Dixie Dan" by Arthur Collins (#4, 1908, co-written by Will D. Cobb), and "I'm Looking for the Man That Wrote the Merry Widow Waltz" by Billy Murray (#7, 1908, co-written by Edgar Selden).
