Sid was a star of radio, television and film, whose notable featuring roles were in Hancock's Half Hour with Tony Hancock in the 1950s and later in the successful Carry On series of movies in the 1960s. Died onstage of a heart attack at the Sunderland Empire Theatre in the UK on 26 April 1976, during a production of The Mating Season.
