Millard G. Thomas

Jazz pianist and composer, born in the USA 1880s?, died after 1930. Thomas lived in Montreal, where from at least 1920 to 1927 he led Millard G. Thomas And His Chicago Novelty Orchestra, a black jazz band. He recorded eight titles with his band in 1924, two as a soloist in 1924, and four as accompanist to clarinetist Theadore West in 1925. He also wrote lyrics for a Broadway musical, Brown Buddies, and traveled to New York in 1930, where he recorded with a studio orchestra.
