The group "de Legende" was formed after Elvis Peeters & Fred Angst (who previously formed the core of the Dutch singing punk-wave group Aroma di Amore ) finished their band / show "Peeters & Angst" in 1992. Peeters found a new musical compagon in Geert Corbeels (ex Men 2nd - strangely enough, the other half of that duo, Luc Gulinck , would later form a group with Fred Angst in Kolk , which actually became an exchange operation). However, the Legend's ambitions did not seem to differ markedly from the things Elvis Peeters did before: intelligent and poignant lyrics about death and love, set at reasonable. De Legende got off to a great start: the mini-CD "Ten Dans" immediately delivered two (modest) radio hits: " Maria wants to dance " (a song that I think has a chance in the competition for the best Dutch-language song ever: Maria wants to dance, she wants to scatter the pearls of her body, she wants to adorn herself with jealous looks, Mary wants to dance, no longer be here, just be gracefully muscular, supple like a hoop around her own hips. growls, rhythm heats me, rhythm heats me ) and " Ten Dans " ( You tighten your belly like a soft drum, I play piano on your spine, in our love is music, the deepest tones of romance. Oh, we play at dance, and form the orchestra at the last chance). After a second mini-CD "Golden teeth" from 1993 it took until 1997 for the Legend to return, with "One Ear is an Ear" with Geert Waegeman (multi-instrumentalist of Cro Magnon etc ...), yet another record that can boast beautiful lyrics, but few musically broke. Elvis Peeters was lucid enough to understand the reason for the lack of attention: "I am a cult figure: people know me within the circle, and anyone who is interested in my work knows how to find it. And that is actually sufficient: I do not aspire to become widely known. Although I would like people to know that there is a new CD of De Legende and that the radio may play something from time to time, but at the same time I am realistic enough to wonder: which station can this play? ". In recent years, Elvis Peeters has focused more on his other, parallel career, that of poet, writer and playwright. In it he further explores the themes of the music of Aroma di Amore or De Legende, so that a discussion of his plays also applies in full to his lyrics: " What makes Elvis Peeters so special is his language: through a very poetic, balanced, evocative language he evokes in the reader many associations. He sketches lines that invite further fantasizing and modeling. "
