Trazendo a Arca is a Brazilian band of contemporary Christian music formed in 2007 in the city of Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro. It originated as a dissidence of Apascentar de Louvor (formerly Toque no Altar), the main praise group of the evangelical church Ministério Apacentar. Considered one of the most successful and prominent musical groups in the evangelical scene, throughout its history, it has mixed genres such as pop rock and soft rock with a congregational perspective, and has become one of the record holders for record sales in Brazil. Emerged around one of the most notorious legal disputes in Brazilian music, the members of Trazendo a Arca were already notable since their trajectory in the band Toque no Altar. In it, the band gained prominence for the partnership between vocalists Luiz Arcanjo and Davi Sacer who, alongside keyboardist Ronald Fonseca and bassist Deco Rodrigues, wrote hits like "Restitui", "Deus de Promessas" and "Tua Graça me Basta", and albums of relevance in the evangelical scene, such as Toque no Altar (2003), Deus de Promessas (2005) and Olha pra Mim (2006). In November 2006, Toque no Altar suffered a split, which caused seven of the members to form a new band. In 2007, under controversy and accusations, Trazendo a Arca released the album Marca da Promessa, the biggest evangelical success of the year. With greater stability, the group launched notoriety projects in the religious segment, including the DVD Ao Vivo no Maracanãzinho (2008) and a live album in Japan. In 2010, Davi and Verônica Sacer left the group to pursue a solo career and the band continued as a quintet. This formation produced the album Entre a Fé ea Razão, one of their greatest commercial successes. In 2012, keyboardist and producer Ronald Fonseca also left the group, making Arcanjo, Rodrigues, André Mattos and Isaac Ramos the only members to remain until the end. After several collaborations and rapprochements, the classic formation of the group reunited in a show in 2020, with which it generated the work O Encontro. With about 8 million copies sold during its career, Trazendo a Arca was one of the biggest commercial successes of Brazilian evangelical music. It was also a public and critical success: Its combination of genres such as pop rock and soft rock with congregational influences generated significant influence in Brazilian evangelical churches in the 2000s. consecutive in the main category, Song of the Year. The band also won the Promessas Trophy in 2011. In addition, it was one of the few Brazilian religious artists to do audiovisual work abroad, the DVD Live in Orlando (2011).
