Necropsy (9)

Greek death metal band. Exist 1990-1992. While I was fucking about online I found out that in the Encyclopaedia Metallum website there was a page on my old black metal band, TENEBRIUM. I was quite surprised 'cause I thought that no one would even remember us (I'm dead sure no one does, ha ha). Fuck I don't even own copies of our releases myself. We were a continuation of our previous death/grind band called NECROPSY (with which we released one demo named "Religious Terrorization" and took part in a couple of fanzine compilation tapes), and we had an 7" E.P. and a demo out on some Belgian label (Shiver Records) and we even sported corpse paint and stupid nicknames. I was Arcturus (I'm the corpse painted moron in the far left of the photo). Ha ha. Mind you that back in 1992 the band ARCTURUS had just released the "My Angel" 7" E.P. and we were all so blown away by it. With NECROPSY we were more into a crust punk, sludge early Death Metal vibe in the vein of AUTOPSY, REPULSION, early THERION, NIHILIST, CARCASS and NAPALM DEATH, but when we listened to DARKTHRONE's "A Blaze In The Northern Sky" we were so impressed that we changed our name to TENEBRIUM, kicked out our drummer (for the sole reason that his hair wasn't long enough, ha ha) and got into a more Black Metal vibe. What started as NECROPSY in late 1989 (although we were into several thrash/hardcore bands even before that) ended as TENEBRIUM in mid 1993 when I had to do my University entry exams and the rest of the guys had to fulfill their military service obligations. What a trip down memory lane!
