Jangle Pop / Rock from Melbourne, Australia. Originally from Geelong and formed from the members of The Scarabs and Famous Five, they played their debut gig at The Lord Baden Powell Hotel in Melbourne as The Living Kind and drew positive attention from Beat Magazine. They changed their name to Greenhouse before debuting at their “local”, the legendary Barwon Club Hotel in Geelong. Debut 7” SeeSaw bw No Flowers (Pot Plant-MDS) followed to acclaim and national airplay. The band toured the East Coast and Adelaide and recorded from 89-93. The band performed and recorded 5 songs on JJJ live at the wireless in 1991 following the release of the 12” AA Full Circles/Travel Agent (Pot Plant-MDS). This also included acoustic versions of Amaranth and Mystery’s Rhyme, recorded at Sing Sing Richmond, with Anna Burley (Killjoys) on Backing Vocals. A live to air acoustic versions of Slipping Away by Max Merritt and the Meteors and their own Finally Over were recorded on radio JJJ in 1992. The band was often on bills in Melbourne and Sydney with Clouds, Killjoys and The Falling Joys as well as Headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Greenhouse, Clouds, and The Falling Joys Bill in 1992 broke the attendance record at the Sarah Sands Hotel with 1240 punters. The bands final release was the CD single What It Is (Pot Plant-MDS) bw Shine and the Philthy Thing and Karma Bum remixes of What it is by Phillip Mc Kellar. We are still waiting for that album!
