Willo Perron

Canadian designer and creative director. Born: 1974 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Coming up in Montreal’s DIY scene, Perron began making flyers and promoting shows at local venues. Perron ran a small Canadian label, Audio Research Records, and had the record shop. He worked on a video for underground rap label Rawkus Records in 2001 which led to further work there. He designed for snowboard and skateboard companies. His biggest break, though, came in the early 2000s, when he designed the American Apparel stores’ iconic minimalist aesthetic and helped the company build and open stores around the world “once a week” throughout the boom period. Multi-disciplinary designer and director Willo Perron has been pushing culture forward with his brand of storytelling, lending his creative touch to the most innovative brands and artists. His work ranges from designing live shows, video, interiors, installations and print media. He is a long-time collaborator of Kanye West, Florence + the Machine, Rihanna and Jay Z. Willo has also worked with Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, The xx, Drake, Coldplay, Beck, Miguel, Marilyn Manson, St. Vincent, Woodkid, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and David Blaine, to name a few. He has also directed for the Brit Awards, designed interiors for bars and restaurants, and retail spaces for Adidas, Apple, Stussy, and American Apparel.
