Neon Baptist

Formed in the 1970s, a band named The Jokers evolved around members Johnny Dowd (guitars), his sister Jennifer Edmondson (drums) and Dave Hinkle (bass). By 1988, the band had become Neon Baptist and featured, in addition to Dowd, Edmondson and Hinkle also Dowd's nephew Max Ormond, Cally Arthur and Mike Edmondson. The early 90s saw further additions when Dowd's to be long-time musical companion Kim Sherwood-Caso joined the band, replacing Arthur. Neon Baptist was one of the founding acts of the GrassRoots Festival. Several of the original NB members have joined Dowd in various musical projects over the years.
