Cali participated in many talent competitions in his native Nicaragua and was the winner in all competitions. At the early age of 15, he made his first recording with the very popular Rock group in Nicaragua, Los Kramers. The maestro Eddie Palmieri called him to sing with his orchestra, managing to record in two albums: Masterpiece and La Verdad. At the same time, he was traveling and singing for the best Jazz concerts in the world. With the Palmieri Orchestra, Cali had the joy of realizing one of his dreams, singing at Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall and the famous Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Through time, he achieved a great friendship with the great maestro Johnny Pacheco, who led him to record and sing with the famous Fania Stars. During this time, Cali recorded two albums: What People Ask and Viva la Charanga. At the same time, he worked with Pacheco and his Tumbao for a space of three years. Pacheco did it as his godson and put him to record vocally with all the orchestras and singers of the company Fania, reaching an audience of almost forty-five musical productions.
