Mid-Nineties indie rock band based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. 'JAKE' is an acronym that's drawn from the band member's first names: [u]J[/u]ane McCraken, [u]A[/u]ndrea Vendy, [u]K[/u]irsty Stegwazi and [u]E[/u]ve Sommerfield. From the liner notes of 'Giraffes Never Forget Either': "Jake were together for a time in 1996. They hung around extensively in smelly rehearsal rooms; drank a lot of tea; ate vast quantities of cake, donuts and biscuits; played a couple of gigs; made some recordings and then stopped playing gigs, as it happens when people are in too many famous bands. Born from the egg on the mountain top Jake, a new band including Eva and Jane grew, call The Foots. The Foots still play these songs (from JAKE)."
