Refunk aka Jay Stewart has evolved into the scene through his talented skills as a drummer. Jay has performed with all kinds of live acts from Drum 'n' Bass/Jazz/Hip Hop/Soul/Acid Gabba and Funk. This collective of bands and his passion for music lead him to Leeds where he studied Jazz. Whilst ingulfed by Leeds and the thriving Electro/Breaks/House scene he realised that Break Beat was where to go next. He began producing in 2003 and DJ'ing even later in 2004. In 2004 he was discovered by Re:connect and Menu Music.
