Jamaican poet, playwright and screenwriter Born: 28th June 1927 Hector's River, Portland, Jamaica Died: 18th April 2023 England Best known for his ground-breaking poem The Song Of The Banana Man, which used Jamaican vernacular dialect and screenplays for the films Escape To Victory (1981), King & Country (1964) and Funeral in Berlin (1966).
