German organist, composer and music historian, born 1940 in Würzburg. He studied at the Musikhochschule in Würzburg (church music, music theory, piano) and at the University of Würzburg (music education, theology). After working as regional cantor, he was appointed teacher of theory and organ at the Church Music School in Regensburg in 1977, and teacher of music theory at the Hermann Zilcher Conservatory in Würzburg in 1980. He is a lecturer for liturgical organ playing at the Musikhochschule in Würzburg. Mr. Horn has given organ recitals in Austria (on the Bruckner organ at the Augustinerchorherrenstift St. Florian, as well as the cathedrals of Linz, Vienna, Graz and Klagenfurt), in East Germany (Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the palace church in Altenburg, the Kreuzkirche in Dresden, the Stadthalle in Karl-Marx-Stadt, St. Hedwig's cathedral in Berlin, St. Mary's church in Rostock) and in other countries. He has made a number of recordings of Bruckner's organ works as well as of his own transcriptions of complete symphonic movements by Bruckner. He presented a paper on Anton Bruckner at the International Gewandhaus Symposium in 1987, and on Richard Strauss in 1989. He also spoke at the International Bruckner Symposium in Linz in 1988. He gave a guest lecture on Anton Bruckner's Seventh Symphony in Leipzig in March 1989, and on the «Organ-like structures in Anton Bruckner's symphonic writing» at the concert hall of the palace church in Altenburg.
