American musician best known as a singer, bassist and co-founder of the rock band The Cars. Born September 8, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA - died October 4, 2000 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He provided about half the lead vocals including some of the band's biggest hits like “Just What I Needed”, which was their first Top 40 hit, “Let’s Go” and "Drive", their highest charting single which peaked at #3 on the US Pop charts. In 1986, Ben released a solo album titled The Lace, which spawned the Top 40 hit "Stay The Night". In the mid 90’s he wrote and recorded seven tracks with guitarist John Kalishes for an unreleased follow up to The Lace. From 1998 until his death in 2000 Ben toured with his own band ORR, Voices of Classic Rock, and Big People.
