Vaudeville blues singer and entrepreneur, who recorded six titles for OKeh in 1923-1924. (Two more titles recorded in 1928 were never issued.) Often credited for writing the song “Shortnin’ Bread”, which he was singing in public since 1905. b.: July 18, 1883 in Bibb County, GA d.: April 30, 1963
