Carrie Gates

Carrie Gates is a Saskatoon-based artist who has been working with performance based audiovisual art since the early 1990s. Her sound-based work includes experimental turntablism, DJing, sound collage, contact mic based electroacoustic, soundscape, radio, voice, and field recordings. Video has been her primary medium since the mid-2000s, with a distinctive style of sound-responsive video glitch aesthetics developed for her live VJing performances, music video productions, and audiovisual performance collaborations. Carrie Gates is known in some electronic music communities as the Lady Gates for her unique approaches to DJing and performance. She is also the co-curator and webmistress of the BricoLodge net label.
