Guido De Praetere

TV-icon, presenter, cartoonist, local politician and producer born on 12th August 1946 at Izegem (Belgium) and spent the major part of his life at Bruges (Belgium) From 1968 until 1981 he teached mathematics, physics and enconomics during weekdays combined with being a DJ of Studio Barcka during the weekends. From 1982 until 1988 he worked as producer at the public flemish TV BRT Co-founder (with Mike Verdrengh), former TV-manager & director of the first flemish commercial channel VTM which started broadcasting in 1989. From 1985 he started his humoristic conferences in the local dialect of Bruges touring around as his eccentric 'alterego' Baziel Spanooghe performing his local well known Baziel-jokes. He died on 12th August 2006 at Roeselare (Belgium) after a 2-years battle against the terrible 'monster': cancer (lung cancer).
