Bengt Kyhlberg

Swedish music historian and librarian, born 24 October 1915 in Uppsala, died 15 July 1982 in Stockholm. He graduated in Stockholm in 1934, became a candidate of philosophy in Uppsala in 1945 and a licentiate in philosophy there in 1954. He became a music technician at Radiotjänst in 1942, director of the gramophone and recording archives at Sveriges Radio in 1945 and was music librarian from 1961. Kyhlberg mainly studied Swedish musical life in the 17th century, especially organ building. He left behind a large collection of well-ordered excerpts from archival material of the time, which are now at the Swedish Music History Archive in Stockholm.
