Chris Kuhlmann

Australian engineer/producer, musician and songwriter, based in Canberra (1993-2000) then Melbourne; founded Copper Butterfly Music in 2023. Better known as Chris until 1999, then as Christian afterwards. Based at 2XX Studios in Canberra and later at The Jam Hut Studios in Preston, Melbourne, until 2006. Also active as a live sound mixer for numerous bands in Canberra and Melbourne throughout these years, and as a performing musician in Melbourne (solo singer-songwriter; the flea circus; cover bands of music from the 1960s and 1970s). Focused on songwriting after 2006, emerging from retirement as a protest singer-songwriter at community events in Eltham, Victoria, during 2018. Founded Copper Butterfly Music and resumed performing regularly again in May 2023. Became a Regional Coordinator (Vic) for the Australian Songwriters Association in 2023. Brother of Eric Kuhlmann
