The Umayya Folkoric Troupe is a Syrian public sector folkloric theatre and dance troupe founded in Damascus in 1960. From the start the troupe was made up of amateurs but the troupe was professionalized in 1964. In 1973 the troupes members where officially employed in the Ministry of Culture and Media.
