Malcolm Smith

British classical trumpeter and Professor of Trumpet. Born in Gloucester May 24, 1946; died in London June 19, 2001. He studied at the Royal College of Music, London. Shortly after leaving the RCM, he became Principal Trumpet/Cornet with The BBC Concert Orchestra (1969-1982). Former Co-Principal Trumpet of The London Symphony Orchestra (1982-1988). Principal Trumpet in the Orchestra Of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden from 1991. He was chairman of the ROH orchestra committee from 1997 to 2000.
