Time after time again, the world is taught lessons by those who go against the grain, and play by their own rules. Although it's a risky way to live, the rewards are great to those who succeed. DJ Exclusive is one of those few... Born and raised in the Metro Detroit area, Exclusive spent his whole life surrounded not only by Hip Hop, but also by the business that supported and fueled the entire genre. As a young teenager, Exclusive worked hand in hand with another self made man, his brother Daryl "Double D" Thomas, C.E.O. Of L.D.P. Distribution and Management. Double D's clientel included Sony, Atlantic, MCA, Aftermath, Epic, Universal, Jive, Loud, Warner Bros., Capitol, and Elektra; and that's just to name a few. Not only did this allow Exclusive the abilty to learn the music business from the ground up, but it gave him the ability to hear music before it hit the street or the radio... An abilty that turned in to a passion. Detroit is well known for its rich musical history, and continually bubbling Hip Hop scene, and although Detroit has a powerful A-List of club, radio and street DJ's, no one was supplying mixtapes to the street with the success and buzz like many New York DJ's were constantly doing. Insired by the work of Doo Wop, Tony Touch, Stretch Armstrong and many others, DJ Exclusive took advantage of his connections both in the street and at the labels, and got to work. Immediately his mixtapes began a buzz. Not just in Detroit as he planned, but all over the U.S. And even overseas. He has worked directly with artists such as The Game, Stat Quo, Obie Trice, Proof of D12, Masta Ace, AZ, Kool G Rap, Swigga, Grafh, Paradime and many more on mixtapes that supply not only the artist's newest and often unreleased tracks, but the hottest music from the underground hand-picked by Exclusive himself. And that is where DJ Exclusive stands alone, and makes his mark... He isn't influenced by payola, and he isn't influenced by the radio. He is influenced by what's good. If he feels it, he plays it; signed or unsigned. Exclusive's mixtapes have commanded the attention of MTV Monday Mixtapes, The Source, XXL, Scratch Magazine and many others, and his online mixtape store buzzes 24 hours a day, fielding orders from all over the globe. He currently has over 60 mixtapes under his belt, and with many more in the works, along with a DVD, his "Official Mixtape", and a rumored major label deal, DJ Exclusive isn't slowing down... Quite the opposite.
