Blanko, a.k.a. Loz comes from south London in the UK and has been into the Drum and Bass scene from the very start. From listening to the cutting-edge early electronic sounds of DJ’s Colin Dale and Colin Favour in 1991, it was clear that a unique new style was emerging from London. The breakbeats, basslines and samples of the early Hardcore tunes soon took the pirate radio scene by storm and the underground scene mushroomed across the country. By 1993 Blanko (simply under the name Loz) was in the studio and had his first Hardcore release out on Chemistry Records called “Frontiers”. Although the track was quite successful, other commitments prevented further releases and throughout the next four crazy years of Jungle, he was simply a fanatical raver learning the scene. During this time, the skills of music production were being constantly developed in a bedroom studio alongside a love of 2-deck mixing and by 1997 everything was coming together. As the music progressed and matured into the basic elements of Drum & Bass, a chance meeting with an old friend lead to the setting up of a pirate radio station called Fresko FM which played beats from old to new every weekend. At the same time, advances in technology and new-found contacts world-wide lead to a batch of releases for Blanko in 1999 and 2000 coupled with the chance to test reactions to new dubplates on the radio. Blanko went on to play on Outcast, Renegade, Don and Flex FM through the years. As well as single releases, Blanko has written music for television, websites, music libraries, jingles and also does some remixing work. Influences: DJ Zinc, Juice Records, Prototype Records, Ram Records, True Playaz, Renegade Hardware / TOV Music, Hospital Records, Moving Shadow and Suburban Base.
