Combelle began as a drummer (1928-1931), then worked with all well-known jazz musicians in pre-WWII France, and later recorded with US musicians visiting Paris in the 1950s and 1960s (Bill Coleman (2), Buck Clayton, etc) Father of Philippe Combelle.
