Yuri Polubelov (b. 1960) is a Russian pianist and music educator from Vitebsk. Yuri gave his first concert with Lvov Symphonic Orchestra at the age of thirteen, and he won the All-Ukrainian Young Musicians' Competition in 1975. He graduated cum laude from the Moscow Conservatory in 1983 after studying piano with Vera Gornostaeva and chamber ensemble with Constantine Adzhemov. Currently, Polubelov works as a senior lecturer at the Moscow Conservatory. The pianist had been performing with Alexei Lubimov, Yuri Bashmet, Tatiana Grindenko, Ivan Monighetti, Mario Brunello, Alexander Rudin, Alexander Kniazev, Francois Leleux, Pascal Moraguès, Mark Pekarsky and other prominent musicians. Since 1997, Yuri Polubelov is collaborating extensively with vocalist Svetlana Savenko. Their repertoire includes over 350 works for voice and piano by classical and contemporary composers. Polubelov and Savenko premiered many compositions, such as the complete songs cycle by Anton Webern (at the Schoenberg–Kandinsky: Sound and Color Festival in 2002) and music by Paul Hindemith, George Crumb, Igor Stravinsky, Carl Orff, Valentin Silvestrov. As a music director, Yuri Polubelov staged a few operas, including Yolka by Vladimir Rebikov and Vertrauenssache by Ernst Krenek. He participated in various festivals in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, France, Slovakia and Estonia. Polubelov recorded and released music by Alexander Von Zemlinsky, Arnold Schoenberg, Béla Bartók, Galina Ustvolskaya, Alexander Knaifel, Joseph Bardanashvili and other composers.
