Brass band formed in 1993. After Hammonds Sauce Company withdrew its' sponsorship in 1993, the band negotiated a new deal with the Yorkshire Building Society, and the band changed name from Hammonds Sauce Works Band and became the [a3484380] in July 1993. David King (11) was Appointed musical director the following December when Geoffrey Whitham retired after a partnership that had lasted for more than 25 years. The band appeared at the European Championship for the first time in May 1996, and emerged as European Champions, a title they retained in 1997.
