Brass band formed in 1993. After Hammonds Sauce Company withdrew its' sponsorship in 1993, the band negotiated a new deal with the Yorkshire Building Society, and the band changed name from Hammonds Sauce Works Band and became the Yorkshire Building Society Band in July 1993. David King (11) was Appointed musical director the following December when Geoffrey Whitham retired after a partnership that had lasted for more than 25 years. The band appeared at the European Championship for the first time in May 1996, and emerged as European Champions, a title they retained in 1997.
