Stacey Phelon

Owner and engineer of Subterranean Sound. Now defunct, Stacy Phelon passed away on April 23, 2020 at his home in Tinton Falls, NJ at age 67. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to J Stacy Phelon III and the late Heidi R Phelon. Stacy grew up in Brooklyn and in Liberty Corner, and Eatontown, NJ. Stacy operated Subterranean Sound, a successful local recording studio in Long Branch, NJ for many years. He was a gifted musician and assisted many recordings during his studio days. He was popular as a "hands on" producer who would contribute musically to the work of striving bands. In 1979 his band Apple Core released their only studio album BEHIND THE TEAR. It has become an underground "rarities " hit especially in Europe. Stacy played in many Jersey Shore bands as well as in duos and trios. Stacy loved music. He was always a rock and roller at heart. Stacy is survived by Susan, his wife of 42 years, his father, Stacy, his brother Jeffrey and sister-in-law Siobhan Lonergan, a nephew Ian Phelon, and his godsons Alexander and Markus Biasio of Klagenfurt, Austria.
