Audio Push (formed in 2002) is an American hip-hop duo comprised of members Oktane and Pricetag, hailing from Inland Empire, California, U.S. Consisting of Julian Brown aka Oktane and LJ aka Pricetag, Audio Push came to fruition in 2006, after years of honing their recording and performing skills Audio Push signed with Interscope Records in 2009. Issued by the label, the duo’s debut hit single “Teach Me How to Jerk” propelled the group to popularity and the accompanying video introduced the West Coast hip-hop dance “Jerkin’” to a much wider audience. Unable to remain on the Interscope roster, Audio Push has since released a string of mixtapes including “The Soundcheck” in 2009, “The Backstage Pass” in 2010, and “The Intermission” also in 2010. The single “Up n Down” was also released in 2010 and introduced a softer side to the duo’s hip-hop sensibilities, with R&B beats and soft piano accoutrements. Later in 2010 the group released the single “It’s Going Up” featuring Soulja Boy, and contributed to the Mann track “Body Rock”. From Audio Push’s sixth mixtape released in 2012 on BLKMNDS came the singles “Extras” and “Wassup”. With the success of the mixtape Audio Push signed with Hits Since ’87 run by Hit Boy, who issued the duo’s 2013 mixtape “Come As You Are”. The release crossed genre lines from R&B and soul to hip-hop and spawned the singles “Shine” and Reppin’” released in 2014. On top of releasing their own material Audio Push has contributed to a number of release by fellow Hits Since ’87 label mates including the 2014 songs “Plug Music”, “Stripes”, “Scorn”, and “Parade” from the collaborativee album “We the Plug”.
