Hyperion Ensemble was founded in 1976 by composer Iancu Dumitrescu and is conducted by Iancu Dumitrescu & Ana-Maria Avram. Hyperion Ensemble is a chamber music ensemble from Romania, based in Bucharest, and specializes in the performance of contemporary classical music, more particular it is the main promoter in Romania of the Spectral Music trend. Hyperion performed all over the world, and premiered the major works of Iancu Dumitrescu and Ana-Maria Avram Hyperion Ensemble's performances are hyper-spectralist, transformational and acousmatic. Hyperion Ensemble realized many broadcastings for radio shows and a lot of LPs and CDs, particularly the 32 CD series with Dumitrescu and Avram's music. Have been active members: Cornelia Petroiu (viola), Ion Ghita (double bass), Victor Arsene (trombone), Luminita Fara (percussion), Radu Clipa (trombone), [a1186593] (clarinet), Petru Teodorescu (piano), Lucian Fara (violin) Fernando Grillo (contrabass), Claude Delangle (saxophone) plus other guests including Chris Cutler. Renewed once more today, Hyperion Ensemble's team consist of a bunch of international artists: Maya Dunietz (flute, piano), Tim Hodgkinson (bass clarinet, clarinet), Yoni Silver (bass clarinet), Orban Godri (bassoon), Tiberiu Cenuser (trombone), Ioan-Marius Lacraru (violin, viola), Vasile Comsa, Andrei Kivu (cello), Adam Scheflan, Shmil Frankel (double bass), Haggai Fershtman, Alex Drool Jonovic, Colin Hacklander, Chris Cutler (percussion), Eran Sachs (no-input mixer), Philippe Petit (turntables), Stephen O'Malley (e-guitar)
