Freddy Hansson

Freddy Hansson, b. 1941, d. 2023, was a Danish producer, engineer and initiator, known for his pioneering work in first Rosenberg Studio and then Sweet Silence Studios. Father of engineer and producer Flemming Hansson. Hansson followed Den Danske Filmskole's sound technician training from 1969 to 1971 and already in the late 1960s began recording concerts in Jazzhus Montmartre with his tape recorder. His first official professional recording was Delta Blues Band's debut album in 1969 which was recorded at Wifos Studio. In 1970 he began a collaboration with Ivar Rosenberg, and from 1971 to 1976 working mainly as a sound engineer in Rosenberg's new studio, Rosenberg Studio. In the Rosenberg Studio Hansson worked with Danish artist like Alrune Rod, Gasolin', Sebastian (5), Gnags, Røde Mor, the Greenlandic rock group Sume, the British T. Rex, and jazz artist like Fessor's Big City Band, Wild Bill Davison, Dexter Gordon, Kenny Drew and Stan Getz Quartet. In 1976, Hansson established Sweet Silence Studios. From the very beginning the studio became the leading Danish recording studio, attracting both major national artists and a large number of international artists. In 1978, Hansson helped found the record company Amar Records. Flemming Rasmussen, who had been working in Sweet Silence since the start, became co-owner of the studio in 1980. During the 1980s, Hansson gradually worked less in the studio and acted mostly as an administrative director. In 1999, Flemming Rasmussen took over full ownership, and Hansson left the studio he had created himself. In recent years, Freddy Hansson worked with web design in his company SweetSoft and was out of the music industry's spotlight.
