Ian Pincombe

The real name of Ian Devine, one of the most distinctive musical talents to emerge from the Manchester postpunk scene. As gifted as John McGeough or Bernard Sumner but not as well-known, Devine is a lauded guitarist amongst other things. After the breakup of the band Ludus, who featured the Manchester personality and artist Linder on vocals, Pincombe relocated to Cardiff where he did other work to consider with the postpunk Welsh divas Statton and Griffiths. Latterly a lecturer in British social history at the University of Cardiff.
