Richard Bibby

Canadian record company executive from London, Ontario. Started his industry career in 1965 as a sales rep for The Compo Company Ltd.'s label Apex (3). When it became part of MCA Records (Canada) in 1970 he was promoted to head of Ontario Sales for MCA and in 1972 was made the National Sales Manager. A few months later, in January of 1973, he was promoted to Vice President of MCA Records (Canada) at the age of 26. Only months later he was again promoted to VP of Marketing and in 1974 was promoted to VP and General Manager of MCA Canada. In late 1976 he moved to Los Angeles after being promoted to VP of Marketing at MCA Inc., placing him in charge of all marketing divisions for MCA in the U.S. and Canada. He left MCA in early 1978 and within a few months was back in Canada as VP and GM of Pickwick Records Of Canada Ltd.. He returned to the U.S. in early 1979 as GM of Pickwick International, Inc.'s Pickwick Records division in Minnesota, and within months was made VP of the division. Also an accomplished painter, notably creating the cover for Jimmy Buffet's 1979 album Volcano.
