Mandolinist, singer, conductor and Musical Director of Victor's Foreign Department (born February 6, 1885 Naples, Italy – died April 23, 1955 New York, NY, USA) Cibelli emigrated to the United States in 1892, together with his parents, his sister Minnie (born 1887) and his two brothers, Eugenio Cibelli (born 1884, later a well-known tenor) and Salvatore (born 1891). Classically trained, Cibelli played the mandolin in New York restaurants and music clubs and performed as baritone at the Metropolitan Opera. From the 1920s to the 1940s, he served as Musical Director of Victor's foreign department. He also made scores of records with Victor performing on the mandolin and guitar, as singer, and as band leader. By the 1940s, Cibelli used the name Alfred John Cibelli.
