Paul Ray & The Cobras

Austin, Texas blues band fronted by Paul Ray, formed in the 1970s. The band’s original lineup featured guitarist Denny Freeman and bassist Alex Napier with John Henry Alexander on drums and Oscar "Bubu" Watson on percussion. Later lineups had Rodney Craig on drums and added Stevie Vaughan on guitar and Joe Sublett on saxophone. Paul Ray retired from singing in the late 1970s due to throat problems, members of the band continued in as The Cobras (8).
