John Spence

British recording and mastering engineer. Resident engineer at Fairview Recording Studio, Hull, UK for 37 years. John came to studio work after spending 3 years on a touring PA working with, among others, Bad Manners, Orange Juice, Aztec Camera, Geno Washington and The Blues Band. Early studio clients included the Sisters of Mercy, The Mekons, the March Violets and prog band Castanarc. Through the 1980s and 90s his client list grew to include John Parr, The Happy Mondays, The Rhythm Sisters and Roger Eno. In 1989 John worked with Bill Nelson (Bebop Deluxe) and their relationship produced many recordings with Bill Producing other artists and recording three albums of his own, Practically Wired, Crimsworth and After the satellite sings. John continues to master all of Bill's output.
