American organist and pianist (b. August 31, 1891 in Philadelphia, PA – d. August 5, 1978 in West Palm Beach, FL) The daughter of a German-born piano tuner and sister of theater organist William Klaiss, Viola Klaiss (married name Spotts) played the organ on several recordings for Victor in 1928. In 1923, she advertised that she was working at the Palace Theatre in Philadelphia. In Jan. 1926, she accompanied the Charlie Chaplin film "Gold Dust" on that cinema's organ.
