Chilean Pilot, Composer and Poet. Barros Ortiz was born in Vienna because his father was a Military Addict before the Austro-Hungarian Empire, arriving in Chile at the age of 3. He was a poet from a very young age, at the age of 14 he wrote the poem "Don Diego Calatrava". He was the author of the lyrics of the Anthem of the Chilean Air Force “Camaradas”, He was the author of the anthems "Grupos de Aviación" 1, 4 and 5. Author of the anthem of the Chilean Investigative Police in 1974. He was the author of songs like “Bajando pa´ Puerto Aysén», «Bajo el sauzal», «Niña de los ojos claros», «Porque tengo pena» or «Guitarra, mujer y penas». He studied at the "Instituto Nacional" and at the "Internado Nacional Barros Arana" He graduated from the Military School in 1928 as an Artillery Weapon Officer. In 1927 he was one of the survivors of the Alpatacal Tragedy. He entered the Military Aeronautics School in 1929. In the Chilean Air Force he was a war pilot, Commander of Group No. 5 of "Puerto Montt". He was General of the Air Brigade, Commander in Chief of the "Chilean Air Force" between 1955-1961 (Viena, Austro-Hungarian Empire. March 2 1908 - Santiago, Chile. December 27 1990) Diego Barros Ortiz died at the Chilean Air Force Hospital on December 27, 1990, at the age of 82. He was buried in the Air Force mausoleum at the General Cemetery.
