Mathias Mattos

Brazilian bassist who was a founding member of the Manfredo Fest Trio in São Paulo, in the early 60s, with whom he gigged regularly at the Bar of the Cambridge Hotel and released many albums for the RGE later. He also performed and recorded extensively with another great pianist, Pedrinho Mattar. In 1978 he backed Raul de Souza and Frank Rosolino in an historic concert performed by the two trombonists at the First São Paulo/Montreux Jazz Festival, alongside José Alves (aka Zé Bicão) on piano and Zinho on drums.
