Moved to London in the 1930s where he played in dance bands led by Bert Ambrose and Teddy Joyce and played with musicians such as Fats Waller, Coleman Hawkins, and Benny Carter when they came to the UK. He also worked as a musician and actor for TV and film, e.g. The Goon Show. He was awarded an OBE in 1984. b. March 29, 1915 (Glasgow, Scotland). d. December 6, 1997 (London, England).
