Girl One And The Grease Guns

Who are Girl One And The Grease Guns ? The simple answer to that is.....nobody really knows. They were born in late 2012, when they recorded their debut 7" single, Driving Without Headlights (Once Again) b/w (I'm A) Willing Receiver, which was released in early 2013 on Squirrel Records. They chose to remain anonymous except for the names Sissy Space Echo, Warren Betamax, Charles Bronson Burner and Bruce LeeFax. On a couple of occasions, they were joined by one more Grease Gun - John Cassette-vetes. They recorded "in a freezing cold structure inside a timber yard", which is known as The Glass Factory. Sometimes, they recorded within a building known as The Ghost Town. They initially released their music on 7" single only - each one on Squirrel Records. This format suited their aesthetic. They said it was because you can listen to it instead of watching the commercials in-between your favourite TV shows. They formed their own record label, Next Phase : Normal Records, in early 2017. They then recorded and released one full length album. Next, they recorded and released a white label 12" single. Finally, they released a CD only mini-album. In early 2019, they split up. The next move from the band is unknown at this present time. Girl One And The Grease Guns continue to be a mystery. No photographs, no live appearances, and only the very slightest information about them has been released to the public. They always maintained that this approach represents the perfect band. When you strip away everything else, all that remains is the music itself.
