Penny Pendleton

Everett "Penny" Pendleton and father of Everett B. Pendelton was born August 8th, 1928. in Chicago and attended DuSable High School in Chicago around the same time as Von Freeman and Dinah Washington. Music was definitely his calling as he played many instruments. Much of his music career started during the Big Band era where he played trumpet. He was also known as a very good arranger and was often asked to do the arrangements for the horn section. He was often given the high parts for the horns because he could hit the high notes. He was a big fan of Dizzy Gillespie. He didn't begin playing the bass until he was in his late 30s. He found that voice in playing the bass. Ray Brown was one of his favourite players and people would say his playing sounded a lot like Brown. Everett passed away in 1995.
